Going into the last night of the season in the Premiership there was all to play for, runners up and the last relegation spot. With Bobby Hines already securing Top Spot with a game to go and Lyndsey Cook already relegated, Lyndsey still had a say in who was gonna get runners up. Arron Simpson just needed a draw to guarantee runners up, against Lyndsey, but couldnt stop making up enough excuses after the game as Lyndsey destroyed him 5-1 to leave his runner up spot hanging by a thread. On the other table at the same time, Anthony Scholz and Mark Anderson were up against each other. A draw wouldn't be a good result for either of them so it was do or die for the pair of them. Ant Scholz sneaked it 4-2 to provisionally go second. If Chris Cook beat Rob Ford it would catapult Cook into second and relegate Ford. Cook was flying at the halfway stage 3-0 up, but a dogged display from Ford in the second half earned himself a draw and kept his hopes of survival alive, and killed off Cooks hopes of second spot. All down to the last game of the season, Ford v Anderson. A whitewash for Anderson would be enough to clinch second spot, while Ford needed to get 2 frames to live another day in the Prem. 3-3 it finished, Ford went home happy and Anderson goes home thinking what could have been. Dan Oates it was who got relegated and Ant Scholz getting runners up. In the Championship it was all done and dusted by the last games with Al Bremner winning the league and Gav Vinson getting runners up. Dan Shelton was the only one to get relegated. In Div 1 it was much the same with Si Crawford the winner and Don Carroll runner up.
In the Prem there was a huge shock - no draws!! Simpsons dire form in this league continued with a 4-2 loss to Oates, who moves into 2nd with that win. 1st v 2nd in the league were up against each other with Hines back on form with a 5-1 demolition of C.Cook, who now slips to 3rd. Finally Anderson tastes victory at the fifth attempt by beating Ford 4-2, with Ford now taking his place at the bottom of the pile. Scholz v L.Cook was cancelled.
In the Championship Wells had his first match since replacing Tingey, and was literally thrown in the deep end as he got mauled 5-1 by Bremner who is still flying. Vinson is staying with Bremner all the way though as he dispatched Shelton 5-1 wihout breaking sweat. And the hidings weren't yet complete as Derry battered Wheeler by the same scoreline, but with a little luck I hear! Godber v Allen was cancelled. A 7pt gap now appears between 3rd and 4th as the top 3 look like sticking with each other till the very end.
In Div 1 only 2 games yet again were played. Carroll went top of the league by making it two 5-1 wins on the trot with Solomon being on the receiving end this time. And Mumford moved up to 3rd with a 4-2 victory over Lewis, who has slipped down the league after successive defeats. Dudley v Morley and Crawford v Crawford were cancelled.
In the Prem its like draw central as yet again noone gave an inch. C.Cook carried on his unbeaten start to the season and temporarily goes top of the league with a 3-3 stalemate with Simpson. Scholz and Oates both got 2 draws in succession cancelling each other out. The only win this week went to L.Cook with a convincing 4-2 over Anderson who stays rooted to the bottom spot. Hines v Ford was cancelled.
Only 2 games played in the Championship this week. Derry got his first win on the board by beating Allen 4-2 which puts him within touching distance of 2nd. Wheeler and Shelton helped each other out with a 3-3 draw which edges them closer to the pack. Vinson is to rearrange his game with Wells, as has Bremner with Godber.
Div 1 also only had 2 matches played. Carroll has now started to apply a bit of pressure to get into a promotion place by thrashing Lewis 5-1. He's only 6pts behind Si.Crawford now as Si had to settle sharing the points drawing 3-3 with Solomon, who has now drawn 3 out of his first 4 games. Morley v Mumford and Dudley v St.Crawford were both cancelled.
3 draws in the Prem as Scholz and C.Cook shared the spoils with Simpson and Hines also cancelling each other out. Anderson improved on his poor start to the season scraping a 3-3 with Oates. Ford notched up his first win with a 4-2 against L.Cook. Still tight in this league with there being draws all the time.
In the Championship Godber tasted his first defeat losing 4-2 to Vinson who stays unbeaten. Allen got his first win beating Wheeler by the same scoreline, whilst Bremner marches on with a 5-1 pounding of Derry. Tingey v Shelton still to play as Aaron Wells has replaced Tingey.
Div 1 also didn't see any draws as all matches were won and lost. Morley saw off Carroll 4-2 while Mumford disposed of Dudley by the same score. Si.Crawford made it 3 out of 3 by beating Lewis 4-2, and Stu.Crawford battered Solomon 5-1. Only one man to catch in this league at the moment as Si.Crawford is already 5pts clear of 2nd.
In the Prem, Simpson chalked up his first win by beating Ford 4-2. Hines got the same scoreline out of Scholz, and the 4-2's kept coming with C.Cook keeping his 100% record beating Anderson. L.Cook got her first win on the board beating Oates by.......... you guessed it...........4-2!! The Prem is quite tight in the middle already with only 2 matches down.
In the Championship, Wheeler put his 5-1 hiding from Bremner to bed as he inflicted the same scoreline on Tingey who stays rock bottom. Godber leaps to the top of the pile with a 4-2 win over Shelton, while Derry made it 2 draws out of 2 with a 3-3 against Vinson. Bremner and Allen also shared the spoils 3-3.
In Division 1, Si Crawford has already opened up a 5pt gap at the top by demolishing Morley 5-1. Lewis drew 3-3 with Solomon while Dudley and Carroll also shared the spoils 3-3. Mumford and St Crawford are still to play.
The first week of matches ran relatively smooth with just one match not being played.
In the premiership Ant Scholz won fairly easily 4-2 against Arron Simpson, Bobby Hines battered Mark Anderson 5-1, Battle of the Cooks was just edged by Chris 4-2 over Lyndsey and Dan Oates won 4-2 against Rob Ford. In the championship Adam Godber edged Andy Tingey 4-2, Gav Vinson thrashed Kev Allen 5-1, hot favourite for this league Alan Bremner had a 5-1 victory over Rob Wheeler, and the only draw out of all three leagues came from Neil Derry and Dan Shelton 3-3. In the 1st Division Don Carroll got off to a good start beating Kev Mumford 4-2, same result for Rich Lewis who beat Stu Crawford, and Si Crawford got the first whitewash out of all three leagues beating Liam Dudley 6-0. Marvin Solomon drew 3-3 with Mark Morley.
